During my college days i used to feel very conflicted as well. I research led me to Islamic Psychology courses under Cambridge Muslim College and I had kept that in my list to join as soon as i can. It bothered me that I didn’t have anything related to the subject to engage with currently. The launching of SIP was a long waited opportunity for me. الحمدلله
“you cannot serve the mind without first understanding the soul, And you cannot understand the soul without knowing the One who created it, And you cannot do so until you step deep into the sciences of this beautiful faith.“ This really hit home! How often do we forget that in order to truly understand ourselves we need to know more about our creator. That we can’t really separate the two.
Jazakallahu khayr for this insightful read and the opportunity to dive into Islamic psychology through this club! May Allah accept it from all of us and allow it to be beneficial! Aameen
It’s a story to think and reflect upon. Most of the so-called self-help books foundation isn’t upon islamic principles and I truly find it hard to integrate the ideas thought in the book into an islamic perspective. But now الحمد لله with your mentorship guidance i can learn and implement with ease without worrying about the authenticity.
"We don’t just need psychologists who are Muslims. We need psychology that is Islamic." — This is indeed a wake-up call for us. One of the reason I became interested in Psychology is because in a way I want to heal myself through learning deeply and getting closer to Allah. And In shaa Allah will be able to help others.
During my higher secondary studies I went to our school counselor. That's when I felt the need of someone whom I can consult islamically. I felt a gap around the councelor. I couldn't convey whatever I felt fully, because she wasn't into islam and I really asked myself is there any way we could have an islamic perspectived counselling. Your initiative will help our ummah in many ways, bi iznillahi ta'aala. Allahumma barik feek 🤲✨
Knowing the answers but unable to write it in answer sheets is very much relatable. In shaa allah, I hope that I will be able to relearn from an Islamic perspective. I appreciate your efforts and May Almighty Allah make it beneficial for us. Aameen.
Speaking in English in my college days( Mumbai) was one of my biggest challenge were people used to look down if we don't converse well.Seeing the people suffer emotional and in search how to deal with them ( especially the family members) led me to learn psychology. But still I felt there was something missing and couldn't connect with the islamic perspectives..
JazakAllahu khayran Bro.Wafi for coming up with this much awaited reading course ..
Looking forward to it..
May Allah SWT help me to be consistent in it..Aameen
"I knew that our Ummah was in dire need of something essential—something often neglected: psychological support rooted in Islam" - this sentence really resonated with me SubhanAllah
Very inspiring article. As a revert who has been Muslim for four years, I don’t hold any diploma or degree in psychology—nor have I completed any short-term course in the subject. However, during my teenage years, I had a subtle interest in psychology. Unfortunately, that interest faded after certain people taught me that studying human behavior was equivalent to gossiping or something only mentally unstable people did.
Years later, after accepting Islam, I believed—and still firmly believe—that Islam holds the solution to every problem in this world. But in recent months, as I began to struggle with my own mental health—“Indeed, man was created weak” (Qur’an 4:28)—my interest in psychology was rekindled. I started wishing that no Muslim should suffer in silence.
Over the past few months, I searched for various courses, but many were influenced by Sufi ideas. Still, Allah opens a path for those who sincerely seek it. I came across your Instagram page when a mutual contact shared one of your posts. I could immediately resonate with your message—that we need a psychology rooted in Islam.
As a Psychology student, attending the seminar on Islamic Psychology at Wadi Huda Kannur, led by you, was an eye-opener! It truly helped me to think about the problems of modern psychology and the potential and future of Islamic Psychology.
جزاك الله خير 🤍

سُبْحَانَ اللّٰه This is indeed thought provoking.I had zero guidance to the field of Islamic psychology and that's when SIP was launched.Felt like an answer to my duas Alhamdulillah.

جزاك الله خيرا for sharing this insightful journey.
It is surely ironic how the term psychology means the 'the study of soul', but the whole field study everything but the soul.
May this be a beginning to the actual study of soul, إن شاء الله.
